Oyster Card for Public Transport

Whether you are a London resident or just visiting for some time, it is advisable to get the Oyster Card. This is better way for paying for your travel fare than getting the paper tickets. How does it work? You can get an Oyster Card at most stations and you have to give a 5 dollar deposit to retain the card. You can then top up any amount you wish on the card and swipe every time you enter a bus or a train. When travelling by train, make sure that you swipe the card after you exit to cancel the trip charges otherwise they continue to add up. 

Once you are done with your Oyster Card, you can take it back at the station and you will be refunded your deposit. In case you lose your card on transit, make sure that you report it missing so that it can be blocked and no one else will be able to use it. You will then be given a replacement card with the balance you had topped up in the card.
